Default Hello, new to the form

I have a 2008 Saturn Outlook XR 2wd. The power steering quit working with no warning at engine rpm below 1500, make it hard to park and back up. After looking on line it sounds like this is a ongoing problem with the outlook, traverse, enclave, and arcadia and a expensive repair new steering shaft, brushing, rack & pinion, and steering pump. Has anyone had luck at flushing the power steering system or does it really need all the parts listed. Has anyone had luck at getting gm to pay to have repairs done? Now I have a vehicle I,m Paying for thats unsafe to drive.
