That probably would be more thorough, but I would think the additional benefits would be questionable. Either way, I guess.

PurdueGuy... Excellent post! *Stands and applauds...* It's right on par with tristanlee's post on how to remove the automatic shift knob. Straight to the point with very instructive illustrations.

Nice touch with the color-coded arrows too, "go red, yellow, green".

One of the better posts I've seen in a long time, possibly sticky-worthy if sticking TB's are a common enough issue.

K, I have been a slight problem with mine sticking as well, and after seeing this I decided to quit being lazy and take my TB off and clean it good. Holy was that thing full of oil and sludge. There was a huge layer covering the whole backside of the plate. I clean it up VERY nicely and wow, I have never had throttle response like that in my car, EVER. Yeah, it was pretty bad. I would recommend doing this on a regular basis. Took me all of 20 minutes to remove, clean, and put back on.

Glad I've inspired so many folks to clean their throttle plates. Heck, even eddie IM'd me and said he'd done it, lol.

*edit* Yay, a sticky! Perhaps it should be refined & put in the how-to section?

I know this is my first post, but I've been a die-hard Saturn fan for quite some time.

Anyway, if you decide to take your throttle body completely off and clean it, when you reinstall it, make sure you line up the gasket right. If you don't, when you start it, the idle will be completely off. Just a suggestion. Great post though! It reminds me that I need to get off my butt and clean my throttle body!
