lol...I don't think that counts! At a dealership here in Indy, they've got a CLEAN '85 Accord with 328,000 miles on the odometer with the SAME engine and transmission. The Saturn has been changed over and over again...
I think it kinda counts - as long as they're straightforward about what HAS been done to it. It definately isn't as impressive as if the engine & tranny are original with no major repairs, though - I totally agree with that.

Rolled over to 94,000 miles at around Noon today. Had the car for 1yr 8mo and drove it 22,000 miles. Has had no major problems to date, despite some abuse. Abuse includes neutral drops, burn outs, power braking, speeding in excess of 100mph, autocrossing, drifting, stalling an automatic, shifting an automatic, believing in rice, travelling sideways on a curb for 100 feet, and all the idiotic 2F2F things I did before I learned how cars worked.

The only problems I've had are tires, which are partly my fault (both front tires replaced at least twice, rear tires replaced at least once.) Also, I have only missed an oil change once, the last one for 200 miles, in which the spot I change my oil at 'dissapeared' and finals had me forced to run MySL2 for longer than anticipated. (Pls no 'why dont you change your own oil' comments)

I'm sure something will go soon, but I am praying whatever it is isnt major. Already scared my tranny is going to fall out.

(knocks on wood)

I hate to change my own oil.

Laying on the dirty ground, when its wet and cold, and getting oil all over your tools, and burning your hands, and getting stuck under the damn car, and carrying the ramps all the way across the yard..

sheesh.. maybe on a lazy summer afternoon when i have nothing to do.. but certainly not in the middle of winter..

i went to ****yLube™ friday and was horribly disgusted. I reduced myself to the level of people who can't leave their damn keys in their toyota's and hondas, so the oil change "techs" can move it. Then, they get sold $15 pcv valves and $22 wiper blades.. THEY HAVE NO FREAKING IDEA!

*shivers*.. I hate that damn place and won't go back anymore.

Ill go to the normal place from now on, even if it is on the other side of town.

my dad's 93 sl2 auto had 344k on the first engine (2nd tranny)

it was changed out mainly because of bad oil consumption (it could have kept going)

it went until 371k when i was driving it and it got the reverse slam problem

now it is in the junkyard

Quite often, I have worked on cars that went to that dump. The people usually overtighter the drain plug, leaving me to pull off a plug that has rounded off edges, and is held on by double the reccomended torque.

Default If you take care of it..,

I've been a GM fan like my Dad for ages, he's had chevy's last in excess of 400000 Mi. than put it in a Taxi! (he's a master mechanic)
I've owned an '85 Honda Accord for 18 years, and I've put on 99% of the mileage at 450,000Kms. and it's still going strong. Though I have to part with it, in favour of my newly acquired '97 SW2 with 138000 Mi. on it.
Just keep changing the oil and filter(s), and it will take care of you.

Mine is approaching that mark soon, OD says 145k today. The engine in it I believe has around 90k on it, but that's because hubby let the oil pan go for too long, but at least he had the replacement in the back seat when the engine seized. He no longer drives it, he's now beating the crap out of a Dodge Dakota that only has 80k on it.
