my 02 sl1 got 39.6xxx last tank. my wifes corolla doesn't even get that. it drives like a tin can. my parents were on a mazda kick, they both had one. they don't get close to the mileage i do. i bought this car cause of the mpg's.

Wow, those are truly impressive numbers. I have never owned a SOHC, but keep track of my mileage pretty regularly... have seen over 40 MPG on the 95 SL2... but the mileage was so high that I bet there was very little friction in the top end... ... of course it may well have been getting a boost from all that oil it was burning.

ok so if the guy fills it up all the way, drives it till he refills it to 10 gals..he's still using 10 gals thus hes calulating 10 gal tank vs. his milage and he's getting whatever he said for gas milage cuz he didnt go through the extra 2 even if you are right on your 12 gal tank. so therefore, using 10 gals and refilling 10 gals and using the milage given...he would be getting what he says using his math right.? pretty sure that makes perfect sense...

The car has a 12.5 gal tank ........... so need need to debate that. As far as someone getting 48mpg with a Saturn S-Car I say bullchit. I've had ten Saturn S-Cars and never got better then 39 plus on 1,900 mile road trips back when the national speed limit was 55mph.

Cool

Even with emissions issues (smog pump failure), I average about 40 mpg in my standard coupe, and that's rural delivery driving.
