Default advice on lowering my sons 2005 ION

In my day we would pull the coil and cut them on a band saw ,can that still be done without compromizing ... # 1 SAFETY; or tire & parts problems, or should I buy a lowering kit. And 2... is this something me and my son can do or does it take special tools or knowledge. I have floor jack, stands, wrenches&sockets. thanks in advance for your input.... D.B.

Welcome to the Board.

With struts on cars now you want to find lowering spriings. Safety and longevity. The ION only has struts on the front so it makes things a bit easier. You will need spring compressors to do the struts and a wheel alignment after installing. Rear is easier. Justr grunt work, no struts.
