Default Stretched Timing Chains

Our check engine light has remained on after replacing crank shaft and cam shaft sensors. We have been told by the dealership it is probably stretched timing chains. I've used sythentic oil in the car the past three years and changed every 3000 3200 miles. Our car has 52,000 and just three months out of warranty. Does anyone know anything about this problem or if replacement chains are different that what was orginally installed. Very costly repair and like the car and want to hold onto it for at least another four years. Mechanic at dealership suggested trading off. This is not an option right now and trying to find out what else I can possibly do to eliviate this happening again as such low mileage. Also read this 3.6 V6 is prone to this.

Charles Cunningham,

Would you please provide the last 8-digits of your VIN, so I can look into this further for you?
