put it in 4th gear. stand up in the back. place both hands on the knob. pull up AS HARD AS YOU CAN. it will come off, carefull not to hit yourself in the head. might wanna wear a bike helmet while u do it. have someone take pics of u in the helmet and post em

You may want a face shield along with the helmet. I think most people end up giving themself a black-eye, I know I almost did! lol

i put a new knob on mine...but the little bolts always got loose so the shifter would come off as i am trying to bang gears...so i threw the short shifter kit on and my stock knob. I am a happier person now.

yeah, I had the same problem. Mine came off a few times and then ended up breaking around the bottom! So now mine is back to stock too.

just a quick tip for those who had their custom knobs fall off.... use a little rubber cap on the end of the shifter post. and then place the knob on it... helps to keep it snug and from slipping off. Just make sure the rubber cap makes it REAL snug. sometimes the ones that come with the knob aren't thick enough. Hopefully that helps.

I put a MOMO shift knob on mine. They sent me a big selection of rubber caps along with my shift knob came with 3 little screws that when you tighten it, it won't come off. When I pulled my shift knob off over the winter the little screws left little "holes" so I knew it was definently tight.

Mine came with the caps, but they were all to small. None of them came anywhere near fitting over the end of my shifter. And The screws for my knob left holes just like you said.
